Artifacts of a Blue Mind
A meditation on the melancholic dimensions of emotional life. The title draws on the phrase blue mind, which marine biologist Dr. Wallace J. Nichols associates with the calm, reflective state water can induce. Here, that idea is internalized—surfacing as artifacts of an emotional tide: visual traces of memory, stillness, and suspended time that suggest not only serenity, but solitude, longing, and the introspective drift of the mind. Although no images of water are used in these artworks, through layered abstraction, gesture, and tonal subtlety, the presence of water is felt—its rhythms, its stillness, its weight.
